Physical Therapy Focusing on System Restoration and Unity
connecting heart-spirit-mind-body for comprehensive healing

Your Body Remembers

We are physical, emotional and spiritual beings. Since we can be wounded in each of these areas, it makes sense that we need care, treatment and healing in each area. Unfortunately, treatment that comprehensively addresses both physical and non-physical pathology is not the norm in the medical community. Through P2FF Pathway to Full Freedom, it is possible to attend to both physical and non-physical needs. Non-physical problems, which may cause physical symptoms, are well attended through the P2FF Pathway to Full Freedom. P2FF Pathway work is best when you journey through the Steps, or lessons, with a healthy support person and/or counselor. P2FF Body Awareness< is treatment that helps you to connect to your body and listen to your physical needs. Structural, physical sources of pain and problems are corrected effectively via physical therapy treatment and training. All treatment and training allow you progress at your own speed and comfort level and include practical “helps”, or tools, to equip you to continue your improvement and build independence.

Recognizing options, and experiencing choice and control with safe, respectful touch is vital to deep and total healing. The focus here is on resolving pain and problems in a safe, protective environment that eliminates fear and other hindrances to full healing and freedom. Patients and counselors alike have consistently reported that progress has been many months faster in this comprehensive approach. Remember - Physical pain and symptoms that have non-physical roots will not resolve unless the underlying causes of the problems are addressed.

Physical Therapy, Training and Teaching Services
  • Performance and Structural Fine-Tuning
  • Manual Therapist, Emphasizing Functional Training
  • Orthopedic and Sports Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation
  • Familiar with/successful treating problems related to pregnancy and post-partum
  • Familiar with/successful treating Equestrian and other sport-related physical problems
  • Familiar with/successful treating problems/symptoms related to trauma and childhood abuse

No matter whether you are fairly inactive or regularly active in your daily life, and whether or not you enjoy recreational sports and activities, you will probably at some time experience pain. A great majority of our physical aches and pains are a result of the way we live our lives. Trauma is not the most common factor in pain symptoms. Many times your pain comes on after doing “nothing at all”!

Wherever your pain and symptoms, recognize that you may not have to live with symptoms that currently bother you. A little education goes a long way. “Normal” movement and positional patterns are naturally degenerative. Passively, as the years pass, pain and symptoms usually become more frequent and intense. If, on the other hand, you want to use your time and activities to improve your condition and resolve pain and symptoms, a little education and motivation can help considerably. You will learn what to look for and how to correct things early on so that you can prevent or slow natural degenerative changes.

Remember - If the problem or pain returns, the chances are good that the cause of the problem was not corrected. High quality, effective physical therapy will address the cause of pain and problems, will seek to correct the cause of the problem(s), and will teach you what you can do to improve your condition and to keep yourself active and feeling good.

Consider effective physical therapy training and treatment for these and related problems:

  • Neck and shoulder pain & limitations w Wrist, hand or finger pain & problems
  • Low Back/Spinal pain, Muscle spasms w Foot, ankle, walking pain & problems
  • Stress, tension and trauma problems w Joint pain, swelling, limitations
  • Headaches, TMJ dysfunction w Pain on the job, i.e. repetitive motion
  • Limitations in normal function/sports w Weakness or poor conditioning
  • Knee or hip pain, difficulty on stairs, stand « sit w Dizziness, vertigo, balance problems
  • Discomforts during pregnancy/post-partum w Arm or leg pain, numbness, tingling

Accept the Challenge to be the best you can be!

Learn what you can do to improve your condition and take care of yourself:

If you are willing to bill your insurance company yourself, or do not intend to bill insurance, I am happy to treat you here in Elizabeth, CO or travel to where you live. I will not be billing insurance or dealing with insurance companies or their requirements in any way. The charge is $200.00 per hour, charged in 15-min. segments, for treatment or training. I will supply notes to your doctor and to you, along with your properly coded receipt of payment for you to send to your insurance company. Payment is due at end of each treatment session and I am able to take VISA, MasterCard, or Discover Card so you can send in my bill and hopefully receive the insurance payment to pay off the credit card bill within a month. First time appointments usually last 60 min. and after that, the more you do and the better you are able to do it, the less I do and the less it will cost.

My goal is that you fully experience rest and haven here. Though I am here to provide safe and helpful touch and guide structural correction, please remember that you are in control. Though is sounds silly, there really are two kinds of pain: “Good” pain and “bad” pain. “Good” pain is the pain or discomfort that indicates that we are working in the right area. This discomfort is mild, is manageable and “hurts so good”. Sometimes you will appreciate this mild, therapeutic discomfort, but at other times, you will want to be comforted. It is important to let me know how you are feeling and what would be most helpful.

This is a safe place. You may talk about whatever you want, or not talk at all. I am very comfortable with both. What you share verbally or clinically will be held in confidence. You may sign a release of information for me to coordinate your care with specific clinicians. If you feel uncomfortable in any way, please let me know what is going on so we can care for your specific need and condition. You have many options available: You can tell me to “stop” or change position, ask for lighter or deeper work, ask questions, move, breathe, touch my hands, etc. I will ask you periodically how you are and I encourage you to share anything that will help me to do the best for you.

Treatment Options

Treatment varies in nature according to your needs and desires. Treatment can be:

  • Physical Therapy Correction and Training:
This treatment approach addresses the causes of structural pain and problems and you will be equipped to follow through and care for yourself at home.
    • This can be done in 30-60 min. sessions – best, lasting results occur in usually 3-12 visits
    • If the pain and symptoms are from physical and mechanical sources, physical therapy is very effective in managing symptoms and correcting structural problems. You will also be trained to continue improving on your own. Physical Therapy alone will not address wounds of the heart, mind or spirit, which powerfully affect the body.
    • As the cause(s) of physical problems are addressed, I will inform you of non-physical contributors that I see.
  • P2FF Body Awareness< :
This comprehensive care addresses the hurts and needs of heart-mind-spirit-body in combination with “healthy living” training:
    • Treatment requires 90-120 min. per session. After about 3 sessions you will see how this approach works and how you will benefit.
    • 12 sessions provides a good foundation on which you can build.
    • A healthy support person, friend or counselor, is involved for effectiveness and for lasting results. Don’t forget that your best support person may be a P2FF Trail Guide.
    • A counselor needs to be involved in complex and legal situations.
    • This systematic approach provides very consistent, highly effective, rapid healing and freedom for lasting life change.

P2FF Body Awareness< includes “work” and “refreshment”:

    • “work” means that you will progress at your own speed and feel tired but never wasted or beat-up. Treatment allows for you to rest and return to joy. You will have plenty to process with your support person and/or counselor and with me at your next session.
    • “refreshment” means that you will feel and experience the healing and loving touch of the Creator in ways that best meet your needs – He knows and He is ever faithful to meet your needs through my hands and in each step of the treatment journey.
    • P2FF Body Awareness< means that ONLY to the extent that you are able to feel safe and receive truth, you will allow your body to speak, receive healing, have needs attended, grow in experiencing truths of God and in the ability to live those truths. P2FF Body Awareness< connects heart, mind, spirit and body through non-verbal means at the deepest levels.

Treatment Elements

  • Preparation according to your individual needs and goals, including education to build a foundation of understanding and follow-through and planning care
  • Physical Care , including correction, training, restoration, and refreshment – balanced according to your need and condition
  • Training & Practice – to clarify and specifically establish healthy emotional, physical, mental and spiritual habits and to move from “reactive” to “proactive” life patterns
  • Independent Preparation and self-care training
  • After each treatment session, you will have written suggestions for you and your support person to continue and progress your healing and to use your non-treatment time well. You will also need REST between sessions, so plan that balance into your personal time.
  • Journaling – bring a journal that you like with plenty of room for notes and reflection

Best results come from at least 3 consecutive treatments and most often, significant progress will be seen within 5-12 sessions, establishing healthy thinking and living habits.

I keep notes relevant to your healing in confidential, coded files. If you desire and give permission, your records can be available to your counselor/support person, doctor or insurance company.

Insurance and Fees for Service

If you are willing to bill your insurance company yourself, or do not intend to bill insurance, I am happy to treat you here in Elizabeth, CO or travel to your location. I do not bill for insurance or deal with insurance companies in any way. I do supply a coded receipt of payment for you to send to your insurance company. I also supply notes, as you desire, to your doctor, counselor, etc. to coordinate care.

Options for treatment (per patient):

  • Phone calls: – Initial 30 min. consultations to answer questions and determine if you will be coming for treatment is FREE. Additional time for phone support is charged at the per hour rate and must be scheduled.
  • By the hour : The fee is $200.00 per hour for treatment and training, charged in 15-min. segments. Reimbursement is usually quite good when authorization and physician referral are obtained prior to first session. (See “Guidelines for Billing Insurance”.) Costs will be less after your care is established – the more you are able to do, the less I will do. I take MasterCard, VISA, and Discover Card, as well as checks and cash. Each session has built-in preparation and review times along with ”cool down” and refresh time.
  • Session Range : Treatment times are usually 1.5 hrs. to 2 hours, 1-2 times per day for patients traveling from outside Colorado or the USA. Sessions 1-2 times per week is most common for local patients. Much can be accomplished in 12 sessions, so that is a good initial plan.
  • By the week : A little bit of training goes a long way. Out of state or international patients benefit from using time and travel effectively to establish a treatment foundation that can be pursued at home for long term benefit.
  • For continuity and treatment effectiveness, a support person is vital. See Support Person Requirements below.
  • Lodging is available at this beautiful motel at discounted rates:
  • Best Western – Castle Rock, CO – 303-814-8800 (They will send a form by email which I will send on to you to imbed in this document or put where you think is best)
  • Ask for “P2FF – Bonnie Yost” special packages – kitchenette, laundry, complimentary breakfast, pool and more; close to large grocery store/pharmacy
  • Time = One (1) or two (2) two-hour treatments per day – no more than 5 treatment sessions per week, usually Mon., Tues., Wed. is a day off to rest and process independently, Thurs., Fri, and Sat. Sun. is a travel or rest/journaling day.
  • A Deposit of 1/2 (credited to your treatment/training cost) is needed to hold appointments scheduled for three or more consecutive days – due upon confirmation of appointments. Deposit refunded if you cancel your appointments at least 30 days prior.

Payment is due at the end of each treatment session and I am able to take VISA, MasterCard, or Discover Card, checks and cash. For insurance billing, it is helpful to get a prescription from your physician. Though this is not required by law it speeds insurance reimbursement. If your doctor will write, “Physical Therapy – Evaluate and Treat” and then list areas of physical pain or symptoms on a prescription form, it may help with insurance support. Fill out the Request for Services /Treatment/Services/Home Page to arrange your appointment(s) orprint and fax your request to 303-646-4749.

Differences between Massage Therapy and P2FF Body Awareness< Therapy:

Massage Therapy P2FF Body Awareness< Therapy
- stimulates circulation and healing - facilitates connection of body, heart, spirit, mind
- can intensify healing or trauma* - avoids trauma while working through suffering
- may reinforce relaxation or guarding* - intentionally focuses on “work” or “refreshment”
- can “trigger” without resolution - “triggers” for insight & over-write, not trauma
- focused on physical benefit - focused on balanced benefit to whole person
- often passive or distracted - interactive, focused and supported
- limited or absent kinesiology awareness - symptom care & structural improvement
- often unaware of positional triggers/effects - aware of treatment positioning and effects
- little or no interaction with Jesus - actively seeks Jesus’ wisdom and healing
- temporary relief (no specific corrections) - long-term relief with specific corrections
- benefit from “drop-in” sessions - requires commitment to follow through

* negative responses to massage can result from 1) unknown and/or unseen wounds and protective patterns 2) therapist unfamiliarity with indications and management of survival reactions

Similarities between Massage Therapy and P2FF Body Awareness< Therapy:

  • Initial screening and education of the P2FF Pathfindercare receiver with clinical courtesy, respect and protection
  • Use of effleurage, deep tissue work and other soft tissue techniques
  • Sensitive to tissue status – listen carefully through touch, observation, confirmation
  • Relief of pain, stiffness, movement dysfunction, tension, etc.
What to Expect

It is important to involve a skilled counselor or healthy support person in your care for continuity and continued healing apart from treatment. Various processing tools and methods will be incorporated into your care and both you and your support person benefit from your training and treatment.

After filling out and submitting the Request for Services, your request will be confirmed or options will be offered to you. When your schedule has been confirmed, you will have access to a map and to a Preparation Packet, which you can fill out on-line or print off to fax or mail. Please be sure I have your pre-treatment forms at least two weeks before your 1 st visit.

The first visit involves meeting, discussing your needs and how to best address those needs by developing a treatment approach and plan. We also allow time to grow in trust of me and of our work together. At our first visit, I have no expectations of what you will need and how your treatment will look – you can do as much or as little as you choose. I am here to serve you by guiding the components of your comprehensive healing. Before any payment, you will be informed of helpful supplies and the costs, so you can decide if you want them included.

This treatment approach results in life-long improvements because it incorporates teamwork between you, your support person, and me as you go through preparation, training, practice and TIME in uniting heart, mind, spirit and body. Listening to your body and learning to connect and understand your body’s “language” can involve many things – movement, position, touch, etc. P2FF Body Awareness< can bring up emotions, thoughts, memories and other physical and non-physical experiences that are vital to your overall recovery and healing. With the assistance of your counselor (or support person) and me, these experiences are very productive and well managed. An important factor in the success of any treatment is to TALK and ASK! A problem can be corrected ONLY when it is recognized and revealed. It is very important to have regular appointments with your counselor/support person during and after treatment sessions and when you return home.

Support Person Requirements:

  • Professional Counselor of your choosing who is willing to support this heart-mind-body work OR
  • Supportive person who knows you well AND:
  • who you can speak openly with you and me
  • who can help you feel and be safe
  • who can recognize when you need help and PREVENT problems
  • who is able to help you (and help me to help you) if you start to have trouble
  • who is a spiritually mature Christian and is managing their cleansing and healing well (all of us have dirt and wounds) – keeping up their own condition and relationship with Almighty God
  • who has strength and stability to support themselves and you
  • who is willing to participate fully with you in preparation, treatment, independent processing and follow-up at home
  • who is willing to complete the Support person’s preparation packet – to be returned with your preparation packet at least one week before your first treatment. These packets may be put into separate envelopes for confidentiality.
  • who you will feel safe with in treatment, whether talking or doing body work
  • who can be with you in treatment, to record, question, and pray
  • Your support person will help you balance work and rest time before, during and after your treatment here:
  • Your support person will be a sounding board and ask pertinent questions as you do your journaling, reflecting and processing
  • Your support person will provide feedback to you and to me
  • Your support person will, with you, wisely work out travel, self-care, etc. for safety and best outcome

Guidelines for Billing Insurance

The following suggestions may help you receive reimbursement from your insurance company for the appropriate medical care and education you are receiving in physical therapy. Remember, some insurance companies cut costs by providing minimal care and may not offer to assist you in getting any treatment outside of what they offer in their circle of services. However, you may be able to be reimbursed at a lower rate if you go to a provider outside their member group. It is important to remember that you will most often spend less money getting good quality, focused treatment to correct the cause of your pain and problems than you would if you just get superficial treatment to make you feel better for the moment. You need to determine if the treatment is superficial, dealing with symptoms only and ignoring the causing factors (in which case the problem and symptoms return periodically and usually, more frequently). Then decide if you are willing to accept the service that they offer or if you want something more lasting and effective, (which will require more responsibility and follow-through on your part, but will also build self-care skills that will last a life time).

1. Call your insurance company prior to your treatment and tell them that you will be paying for services from an out-of-network independent, licensed physical therapist focused on correcting the causative factors of the pain and problems. (If they act like I will be billing insurance, please remind them that I am out-of-network and that YOU will be paying for services as they occur and then sending them the statements for reimbursement). Ask them what they would need to reimburse your expenditure and then tell me (your therapist).

2. Be sure to write down each item that they require for reimbursement: the name of the person you speak to at your insurance company, the phone (and FAX) number of the claim agent and write down the time and date when you spoke to the agent. Write any specific claim numbers, claim manager’s name and any other information that they say they need to process your claim quickly. ASK how long it should take for you to receive your reimbursement checks and if it is a month or more, ask what can be done to expedite the process - tell them you need your money back sooner. If you feel that you may have trouble receiving reimbursement, you may want to request a written confirmation of your telephone “approval”.

3. If needed, your doctor will probably support you with a prescription for appropriate physical therapy treatment and education after he/she has seen you for an evaluation. Though this is not always required, it is always a good idea and supports your claims. (“Evaluate and Treat” or “Physical Therapy” prescriptions for physical therapy are always good, and preferred.)

4. I am happy to provide a treatment plan to you, your doctor and/or for your insurance company after I have seen you initially.

5. If you do have trouble receiving reimbursement, you will need to confront your insurance company with the information you wrote down when you first received authorization for reimbursement and if that doesn’t work, you can call the Colorado State Insurance Regulation Agency at 303-894-7490 for assistance.
